But board director Philip Bouscarle said the Government would be wrong to claim any glory from the community's motivation. 

"We would have done this whoever was in Government, whatever anyone was saying. It's a local initative. It's nothing to do with the Big Society as far as we're concerned."

Project Dirt - Parkway Neighbourhood Fund (Urgent)

One-off grants are available to local community groups for environment and social projects that are based within 10 miles of the Parkway Shopping Centre in Coulby Newham.

Near Neighbours Fund (Urgent)

Deadline: 04/12/2015.

Fund type: Grant.

Max value: £ 5,000.

Small grants are available to encourage stronger civil society in areas that are multi-religious and multi-ethnic within specific Parishes in Bury, Rochdale, Oldham and Burnley; Leeds, Bradford and Dewsbury; Birmingham, Wolverhampton, Sandwell, Walsall and Dudley; Leicester and Nottingham and in Luton and across most of London. The Fund intends to bring together people of different faiths and of no faith to transform local communities for the better.

Deadline: 04/12/2015.

Fund type: Grant.

Max value: £ 10,000.

Funding is available for charities that defend human rights and promote respect for vulnerable individuals in the UK.
