What about somethig like ZOHO? This is an online file storage and Customer Relationship Management system...not free, but free for up to 3 users. A cost-effective...or even free online 'office' in the cloud might be useful for some CICs seeing as how we don't fit any 'charity'-based pricing structure for this kind of thing.

Of course, there is always Google Apps and Microsoft Live, but neither have useful CRM features.

There is Sugar CRM and others, so maybe this is useful to many other CICs...can the CIC Association do anything to put pressure on Sugar CRM or others to allow CICs to get their cloud-based versions cheaply?

And while we're at it, what about cheap broadband, too? We're in an area where BT is the only option...

Thoughts? Or suggestions of software I haven't mentioned.

Cheers

Can I do a bit of shameless marketing?
ACE were recently voted top Large Scottish Social Enterprise. We now go into the UK finals on December 3rd. Its an online vote and we need all the help we can get. Any votes via the link below would be most welcome.

This is our 25th anniversary as an independent local charity. Over those years we have helped approx 5,000 low income families furnish their houses through providing low cost or recycled furniture, most often at no cost. We have created at least 150 jobs since starting up and have provided long term sustainable employment to 11 individuals with physical or learning difficulties. Last but by no means least we have diverted over 100,000 tonnes of materials from landfill since we started.

Cheers
Malcolm

Don't forget that the Net is now a multimedia resource - it's much more than web sites - creative media with social networking all interlinking.

One of the things that the CIC Association can offer the emerging CIC community is online facilities.

This group is set up to discuss the various applications that could be fostered or developed for CICs.

The following ideas have been discussed

- an online marketplace
- a directory of CIC's
- a pooled community blog of CIC ress releases and stories
- a regular email to all CIC's
- an online advertising network hosted on CIC's websites
- a pool of case studies and printable information about CICs to show to stakeholders, banks, investors etc

What does everyone think of these ideas? What is really important?

Lets discuss...
