I'm in the process of setting up a bank account for my CIC and have come across some some terms for documentation that sound a bit mysterious. Looking at Unity Trust's application form, I see I need…Continue

Just received CIC status

My company is Still Walking - the idea is to encourage walking in different areas of the city, and to get people involved in creating new walks. Companies House just awarded the CIC certificate - tho…Continue

"Hi Ben Your Community of Interest (CIC36) statement details what the activities are and who they provide benefit to. Generally they need the governing docs to ensure you qualify for their rules of eligibility. For example, many want 3 unrelated…"

Governing documents for Arts Council application

I'm making an application for an ACE bid. They ask for 'governance' documents to be attached which I understand are the Memo and Articles of Association. For a CIC these don't actually include info about what the CIC does (ie a constitution), just how the directors organise it.What generally are funding organisations after when they ask for the governing documents from a CIC? (I can of course ring ACE and ask but it would be helpful to know in a general sense). Thanks, BenSee More

New CIC, first Annua Accounts, Return due soon!

HelloI set up as a CIC in Jan 2015 and am due to file the admin for the year, the deadline being 1 Feb. What seemed relatively 'doable' a year ago now looks completely baffling! What's the best thing to do next?To explain the situation, I set up as a CIC to apply for larger grants than I could as an individual and to give our activities some greater identity and presence. There was a reasonable amount of financial activity (a turnover of £8k or so) but this was all via me as an individual - I…See More

"Sounds like they're using a form whcih really should only be for Co-ops, an IPS is a Co-op and a completely different set-up. Unity know well what a CIC is so it shouldnt be an issue John"
