Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Review of Dividend caps 2012 - submission to the Regulator in the group CIC Share Issues
"Hi John, my point was about investment and investors generally as social investment is certainly not the only game in town for social ventures. Who else is on the technical panel, how does one get on, what is involved etc? I will chat to Daniel…"

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Review of Dividend caps 2012 - submission to the Regulator in the group CIC Share Issues
"Who was the client that paid for BBW? In fact how much did it (does it) cost to create a new regulated legal form?! If founders & investors can get paid in dividends up to 49% of profit (a higher return than the current 35%) then surely more…"

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Regulators review of Dividend caps 2012 in the group CIC Share Issues
"What I don't get is how BBW who 'led a number of groundbreaking legal reforms including the creation of the community interest company' could have purposely created the above scenario."

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Regulators review of Dividend caps 2012 in the group CIC Share Issues
"Hi John, my point about raising the dividend threshold to 49% was more for the benefits of founders (to recoup their sweat equity in the most tax efficient way) than investors. Agree with your point on a controlled dividend distribution in terms of…"

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Regulators review of Dividend caps 2012 in the group CIC Share Issues
"For option 1 I have the same concern as Gareth - it would be meaningless if the price at which dividends are to be paid out is the last price someone paid as two people could trade between themselves to get the price up to whatever they want. You…"

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Regulators review of Dividend caps 2012 in the group CIC Share Issues
"Hi John, please can you link up the BCC/Young report? For me even a single 35% dividend cap limits the amount of risk investment going into CIC and therefore social enterprise. As Dragon Den is famous for saying, 100% of nothing is nothing.…"

Richard Patey replied to John Mulkerrin's discussion Regulators review of Dividend caps 2012 in the group CIC Share Issues
"Hi all, very interesting discussion. The current situation where you can only draw dividends if you have put money in (regardless of potential 120 hour weeks in getting the CIC setup) must change. I think the best option is to get rid of the cap…"

"BLF will not fund CICs ltd with shares. Neither will Sport England. In fact, most Local Authorities will not grant discretionary rate relief to CICs ltd with shares. Why? because they are not considered to be 'not for profit'. "

Richard Patey replied to Geof Cox's discussion A CIC Mark
"As the creator / designer of the (divisive?!) social enterprise brand http://www.profitisgood.co.uk/socialenterprisebrand/ I would happily create a CIC brand values identifier."
