CIC or a cooperative, which to choose?

Well, not 100% sure but I'm pretty sure I'd like to set up Lawtalks as a CIC. Lawtalks runs training courses across the UK, mainly for solicitors but also for others interested in community care law. My question is, which is better CIC or cooperative? As a solicitor I'm quite familiar with regular companies, but would value your assistance with my question.

hi Craig

the answer is both! - the co-op vs CIC question has been asked by others in this forum before (http://cicassoc.ning.com/forum/topics/cooperative-or-cic?xg_source=...), and I've also published an article explaining how the two are not exclusive here - http://cicassoc.ning.com/forum/topics/cic-or-cooperative

you could also pick the brains of co-op 'purists' on co-op net at http://www.co-opnet.coop, but am happy to offer suggestions if you'd like further clarifications or detail after you'd have a glance over the above links
