General Update-Meeting with BIS- New media partnership, get your free subscription

Dear Members

Messages to BIS

Thanks to everyone who’s sent in a view on Healthcare commissioning, if any members have any messages to convey to Govt relating to regulation, awareness, finance or community engagement I’ll be happy to corral into a central message. It’s only an introductory meeting, but its an opportunity to discuss common themes and a productive agenda, considered views welcome.

Media partnership with Social Enterprise Magazine

As part of our plans to help increase awareness Im delighted to be able to announce a new media partnership with Social Enterprise Magazine. Part of the agreement is a free 3 month subscription to Social Enterprise magazine, and over 400 members will receive this months issue, which includes a double page spread on the five year anniversary of CICs This will also include an online licence for premium content at www.socialenterpriselive.com

To receive the next two copies of the magazine and your online license just follow the link http://www.socialenterpriselive.com/cic-association-free-subscription

Social Enterprise magazine is packed with cutting edge features, expert commentary and advice – and a new monthly column tackling the challenges Community Interest Companies face.

Over the coming months we’ll be looking at the role of social enterprise in housing while in October we’ll be unpicking what the Big Society is and where social enterprises fit in.

We hope you enjoy the read- if you have any questions about your free subscription, or any other queries, please get in touch at matt@societymedia.co.uk

Get Involved – General update

Please get in touch with me directly at john@cicassociation.org.uk if you would like to get involved, the monthly column can showcase the opportunities whilst discussing the challenges of CIC. Social Housing, Elderly Care, Routes to Investment and Innovation in disengaged Communities are some of the key themes emerging, along with basic housekeeping issues like paper annual reporting. Ours is a broad church so please get in touch if you can add a considered view.

From research to care provision to telesales, connecting on any subject through the website is an easy way to get involved. Adrian Ashton is taking a lead in formalising our discussions in some areas here at http://cicassoc.ning.com/forum/topics/developing-social-impact?xg_source=activity and there are a number of other little projects on the go that we hope to post on before school returns.

We’re generally making small steps on our own development plans, still very much on the kitchen table but I think we’re making real progress against the original objectives set out on the website. Whilst it’s still quite basic, the connectivity is already happening and interest in CIC is growing. If you want to get involved in helping build capacity in any way please let me know or post online, id like to open up the collaboration to as wide as group as possible.
