Hi Rachel

It is normally only the Directors that are required to disclose as per most Articles of Association, your own document should confirm this if you have a look (just after conflicts of interest)

There is nothing to stop you extending it to volunteers etc, and it may be you have a reason that would make if best practice. If for eg you are a large membership CIC you could have members that are not Directors that may have a vested interest in the decisions you make, and that disclosure could make the world of difference.

You can make it a best practice principle even if it isnt a statutory requirement. But do you really need to?

We are actually already set up but I have a question about the Register of Interests, so far the Directors and our one(!) employee have completed this but does this Register need to extend to the subscribers/members of the CIC who are volunteers?

Goef Cox you are a genius:) I had gotten snowblind looking at other stuff and didn't spot the PLC thing. All sorted now, many thanks.

Iain - do you really need to submit this form? - it's for public companies only (plcs or plcics)

Never had a bad word said about either Heidi or Robin and both are very well priced, as well as the professionals Geof has mentioned you could also look at BWB, Stephen Lloyd is fondly regarded as the 'father' of CICs

Hi Ray - If you really need a lawyer, I've worked with the following members of the CIC Association, and they're great (though not necessarily cheap).  Simon now works in London but was based in the West Midlands until this year and I guess may still live there - he is among the most specialist social enterprise lawyers in the UK.

I must also invite Paul Bell to join the CIC Association, as I know he is also up to speed on CICs - he's just saved a CIC in Northern England a lot of time and trouble.

But do you really need a lawyer?  The likes of John Mulkerrin, and accountants you'll find in this network, like Heidi Harrris in Birmingham, can sort out most issues - or they 'know a man who can'!
