I'll be attending The Regulators technical panel on the 25th March, please add any comments on the agenda below or email me direct at firstname.lastname@example.org
We will be asking the Regulator to consider allowing the dividend cap to be set against the transaction price of the CIC share if it gets sold to a second party.
We set up our company last February. We represent a collective of about 60 artists in the Shropshire Borderlands area. We enable artists and student artists to meet together in our Studio base in Oswestry, plan shows, network with other artists, gallery owners, educational establishments and curate exhibitions.

It's great to have somewhere to touch…Continue

Social Traders CIC has today launched the first UK Directory of Social Enterprise Networks - hopefully a useful resource for CIC Association members
Following a meeting with John Mulkerrin last week, I thought I would blog my thoughts around the meeting and what I can offer my fellow CIC members.
We set up in December as a new venture and a CIC. Becoming a CIC was an obvious way of setting out our values and ethical stance. We have been working with a number of insurers to offer a scheme for CICs. I am pleased to announce that we have a facility with one of the world's largest insurers offering Liability Insurance,…Continue

Just looking at model arts for ltd by guarantee / large membership and rule 52 is 'exclusion of model articles' and states 'the relevant model articles for a co ltd by guarantee are hereby expressly excluded'.
Can anybody explain what this means - makes me confused!
Why do the commentors asume that making profit is bad? CIC's are profit making enterprises, as they should be, otherwise they would not be in business.
The ones that are set up to suck up funding are the ones which have been formed from previous public services as a way of continuing to pay staff out of the charitable purse. Which should never have been allowed but appathy is the greatest scourge of the world today and these things will continue to happen until the appathy ends and…Continue

I just wanted to spark a debate... given today's Big Society rather negative outing in the media, I was reminded how much I felt CICs should at least have a seat at that table.
So, are CICs the missing link in the Big Society? Or are CICs addressing something completely different?
As they say... discuss!
(and if you want to take it a bit further... …Continue

I am looking for a model set of annual CIC accounts for a small company with no shares. Can anyone help?
I have a lot of expertise in the preparation and independent examination of annual accounts for charities; but I am new to CIC accounts which, I understand, should be more detailed and transparent than ordinary company accounts for the benefit of the stakeholders.
As a business owner you have to make sure you are in control of your finances on a day to day basis, It is no good to wait untill the end of your fianacial year and wait for your accountant to tell you how well your business performed. .

I can imagine the headline may raise a few eyebrows, but with the VAT increase happening today I thought it made sense to raise the issue again and test the validity of such a statement. The legislation is open to any individuals/types of organisation to use to tackle particular issues, but organising information thats useful to particular stakeholder groups such as Charities must surely be encouraged, especially in these challenging times.

About a year ago, I argued the pressing and urgent need for social enterprises to value their people more or risk losing them.
Sadly the latest national salary and careers survey seems to suggest that these warnings have fallen on deaf…
