I wonder whether a social accounting and audit model might be applicable here. Do you know about the Social Audit Network, Sue? http://www.socialauditnetwork.org.uk/ Social accounting involves spelling out an organisation's mission, values, objectives and activities (MVOA). This might be helpful in preparing a social statement. Let me know if you think this might be useful or if you want some information on preparing your MVOA.
Best wishes
Sean

bit vague Sue, anything specific?

as long as it conveys your key activities and objectives to your key audiences you shouldn't go far wrong. Reading other existing companies social statement is normally a good idea, so pick one of your favourite social companies and see how they do it. Cafe Direct communicate theirs very well as an example.
cheers
