Hope this finds you all well. From discussions with other CIC`s in Scotland there seems to be a pattern developing of CIC`s being looked at less favourably when trying to access funding, tenders etc` My example of Google Grants changing the goalposts is also still relevant. Having spoken to others I thought that a Scottish CIC group would be useful to share views, support and lobby when needed.
Hi John there is Micheal in your office ego deal with vacant shoos for CIC can you get him to call me again please 07939442447 I list my old phone and nos thank you regards Howard Jameson
Hi John thank you so much for such a prompt reply" Are you a lawyer? Do you work with start ups? I would love a chat if you're available? grazie simona
Thank you, John Mulkerrin, for accepting me into the association, and for the initial advice. Apologies for the late response, just finding it too easy to get taken off track at the minute.
What I am hoping to gain from membership is to be steered in the right direction. The CIC I am looking to form is going to be loosely based on the Men's Shed phenomenon, that is currently sweeping the country. It will have a specific task to work with former serving members of HM Armed Forces.
We want to be able to offer a workshop facility to aid the transition from service, back into civilian life. We will be offering training in woodcraft and metalcraft, and hopefully, be in a position to assist in job search, and indeed, employ some of the volunteers ourselves.
Many ex service personnel find this transition difficult due to the lack of structure that they had during their service. As a result, a lot of these people are feeling abandoned, and this can lead to them finding themselves in further difficulties, such as homelessness. Our aim is to give these people something to aim for, whilst maintaining some form of the structure that they know well, from time in service.
Any advice on this would be most welcome. Many thanks in advance to all.

I have a query re cic limited by shares v limited by guarantee, I can give you more information just checking if you're the right person, can you help?
I am thinking about CICs with a sufficient number of members (who may not all know each other), that formally electing directors, rather than just confirming their appointment by ordinary resolution, is relevant. I was thinking of GP commissioning groups and Nene Commissioning in particular, which serves Northants and which is registered as a CIC. However looking at their website, there is virtually nothing about governance or how they are funded, and you can become a 'member' without contributing any share capital. That seems just like a public relations exercise to me and the doctors just want to get rich off the NHS, hardly in the spirit of CICs. However if any of your members represent CICs with many members - probably hundreds at least - they might be interested in what I have to suggest. What do you think? Worth discussing or wasting people's time?

Hi John
who is Joseph Mclaughlin? He has sent me a note via the site which sounds very dubious.
Kind regards
Graham
thanks john just about to escape on holiday but around this afternoon … or in a couple of weeks time
Hi John, all ok? You responded to our initial post and we look forward to you phoning.

Is it possible to talk to you direct please John.
I am currently looking at options to either disolve or continue with our CIC being dormant.
I would really value a quick chat with you.
Steve Blake who was our MD and a very good friend of mine died on 28/12/17 and as an not active CIC we need to work out the best thing to do.
Unfortunately we have zero funding available to even seek advice.
Paul
