Hi Julia
Happy to arrange a chat one afternoon. In simple terms the Association provides a central gathering space for CICs and helps with advice on issues such as legal, governance and finance.
We have previously conducted events, national surveys, engage with govt policy development and generate reports to develop and enhance CIC activity, such as the 2012 report and recommendations on the CIC Dividend Caps, which led to the CIC Regulator review and changes which went through Parliament in Oct 2014. We have sat on the CIC Technical Panel since inception through to 2017, and have provided numerous consultancy over the years.
We are unfunded and run on a volunteer basis, in reality the last couple of years have been tough to maintain a service so at the moment we focus on providing guidance to CICs, professionals and statutory providers such as local Govt, Housing Associations etc.
We are planning a new initiative around social finance for this summer so will almost certainly become more active. It is great to have you on board, happy to have a chat one afternoon.
